Festival Week in Centre County

It’s Festival Week in Centre County as folks are gearing up for three big events this year!

Heritage Days in Philipsburg kicks off Tuesday.

This year’s theme is “Made in Philipsburg, Pa” and will showcase new and existing local businesses. Some are celebrating significant milestones this year including Kephart Hardware, celebrating 100 years. Long Motor Bus is celebrating 50 years, and the First Baptist Church celebrating their 160th anniversary.

Heritage Days kicks off with Vesper Services and an awards ceremony Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Philipsburg.

Vendors and exhibits at Heritage Days open daily at 10 a.m. starting Wednesday morning.

The 50th Annual Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts is also this weekend.

Festival organizers expect about 128,000 people to visit State College for the 5-day event and 308 artist booths will be set up throughout downtown.

The festival director, Rick Bryant, says they have some big plans for the last day.

“We’re having an ice cream social on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 on Old Main Lawn, we’ll be handing out free ice cream and cupcakes to the first 500 people and then we’re going to try to take a group photo,” he said.

Kids Day at the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts kicks off Wednesday morning and the sidewalk sale and exhibits will begin Thursday morning.

The 24th People’s Choice Festival of Pennsylvania Arts and Crafts runs from Thursday through Sunday.

This weekend you’ll be able to head over to the Pennsylvania Military Museum in Boalsburg to check out local artists.

There will also be 23 food vendors there, so be ready to fill your plate!
