Last Wednesday, Demetrius Anderson said he was shocked.
“I was getting ready for work. Could you imagine eight marshals, agents, banging on your door,” he said.
He was under arrest for failure to serve a 16-month federal sentence in Pennsylvania.
“In federal court, out of the eastern district of Pennsylvania, he was convicted of passing counterfeit currency,” said his attorney Michael Dolan.
That was in 2003, the same year he was arrested in New Haven, Connecticut for identity theft crimes.
He served 3 years for the Connecticut crime and thought his 16-month federal sentence was being served concurrently. Connecticut DOJ released him to probation in 2006.
But, the feds claimed that they had lodged a detainer with the state of Connecticut.
He should have been shipped to Pennsylvania, but he wasn’t, and the feds did nothing about it until they discovered their mistake last week.
“It`s just so much stuff in my head. It`s still unthinkable. It`s just like a bad nightmare that I can`t wake up from.” – Anderson said
Demetrius Anderson has not been in trouble with the law since his release 13 years ago. He has two jobs and says he’s proven he is rehabilitated
“We are preparing a commutation request and asked the president to commute his sentence.”

Demetrius Anderson appears in federal court in Philadelphia next Thursday, at which point he could be sent back to prison.
