Meet an Altoona woman who is challenging herself and others on her walk to health and fitness.

 

Rebecca Winkler and her husband Kevin have been in all of the Hollidaysburg Area YMCA Challenge Series Walks/Runs this year.  

 

At the most recent 2 mile walk at Canoe Creek State Park outside of Hollidaysburg in early August, the Winklers powered along the hilly course. 

 

What you may not notice is Rebecca is walking with 2 prosthetic legs. 21 years ago, she got very sick with a rare form of pneumonia and doctors had to amputate both of her legs. That certainly has not stopped her from doing anything!

 

As Rebecca Winkler will tell you, “You might have to do it a bit different, but you just have to persevere and go on.”

 

Rebecca works full time at Healthsouth Altoona in the Vocational Rehabilitation department and shows – by example anyone can do anything!
