If you’re bothered by itchy, watery eyes and sneezing , it could be because grass pollen season is underway. That usually happens around the third week of May in our region.
 
At Central Pa. Allergy & Asthma Care, Dr. Jeffrey Rosch says he recommends steroid nasal sprays to relieve  symptoms and if they don’t, the next line of therapy is antihistamine sprays, and then maybe antihistamine pills.
 
Allergists recommend injections for  long term relief in  people with severe symptoms , but does that mean you’re allergy-free?
  
“In some people, we do need to retreat after 10,15, 20 years,  so that there is not only a much better immune  response,  but also better much better control of symptoms,  but , like in any therapy you  have to chose the right patient,”  Dr.  Rosch says.
 
 He says some patients who’ve received immunotherapy shots get relief from their allergies forever.
