The Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown has announced its intention to relocate its Administrative Center offices in Hollidaysburg to the school building at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Altoona.
Garvey Manor Nursing Home and Our Lady of the Alleghenies Residence has been in discussions with the Diocese to expand. That conversation included a potential sale of Diocesan property.
Two years ago the Bishop’s residence was sold. In a news release the Diocese said these steps are appropriate given the current financial circumstances as it responds to past cases of sexual abuse of minors.
The Diocese said the proposed sale will also help it refocus its mission to parishes and parishioners; and it will continue to strengthen programs to protect children.
