A Canadian company has withdrawn its proposal to take over Norfolk Southern.

This news broke Monday afternoon and will likely ease concerns of employees and Blair County Officials.

Back in November, Canadian Pacific made a $28-billion offer to buy Norfolk Southern.

More than 1,000 people are still employed by the railroad in Altoona.

In a statement, Norfolk Southern said it is focused on implementing a strategic plan to reduce expenses and improve customer service.
