Police have confirmed that one driver did die in a crash late Monday morning.
Theodore Jay, 69, of Breezewood was traveling westbound on Route 30 toward Bedford when he crossed the center median and drove into the eastbound lanes.
Another truck traveling the opposite direction tried to move out of the way and hit the guard rail.
Jay side-swiped the other tractor trailer. He was thrown from his truck and died at the scene.
Police said they will likely not reconstruct the scene.
“We normally only reconstruct a crash if there’s gonna be prosecution involved,” said Pennsylvania State Police Trooper David McGarvey. “At this point, I don’t believe there’s going to be any prosecution involved with this crash so it’s not being reconstructed.”
State police in Bedford are waiting to get the coroner’s report to see if there were any medical conditions that may have caused Jay to cross the highway and cause the crash.
