A deadly pileup involving dozens of cars and trucks left a mangled mess on a Pennsylvania interstate Saturday morning.

At least three people were killed and more than 40 others injured in the multi-vehicle crash along Interstate 78 in Lebanon County.

The crash was reported around 9:30 a.m. in Bethel Township about the same time a snow squall was moving through the area.

At least five medical helicopters were dispatched to the scene to assist and transport the critically injured victims.

Penn State said a bus transporting 18 members of the men’s basketball team from Penn State Lehigh Valley was involved in the crash. No one was injured, but all students were taken to an area hospital as a precautionary measure.

State Police said weather conditions and reduced visibility were factors in the crash.
