A local veteran has been found after being missing for nearly two days.
Bob Mathers, 85, was reported missing on Monday afternoon after he left home in his Subaru Outback, and never came back.
Michele Bollinger, his daughter, said the coverage of his disappearance lead to a couple sightings of him, but each time someone encountered him they would give directions and Mathers would get back on the road.
According to Bollinger, her father had no history of mental health issues.
Police confirmed two sightings in Central Pennsylvania.
Bollinger said specifically, she received calls from people in Tyrone and Bellefonte.
Bollinger said late Tuesday night she received a call from police who said officers pulled Mathers over in Mifflinburg for a traffic violation, not realizing he was a missing person, and let him go.
She said 20 minutes later police told her they accounted for their mistake and found him driving through Milton in Union County around 10 p.m..
It was a whirlwind of events, with a happy ending, but emotions ran high as Mathers’ family was desperately searching.
Bollinger said she there was an outpouring of support from friends, family, and volunteers, and she thanks everyone for their efforts.
She said she plans to take Mathers to the hospital for a check up and is relieved she will be able to take him back home.
