The city of Johnstown is working on a proposal to cutdown on drug use and violence, following a shooting on Christmas and overdoses that led to the death of an infant.
The proposal being, a police substation in one of Johnstown’s troubled neighborhoods, backed by Mayor Frank Janakovic.
“To deter some of the drug issues, but also have a police presence in some neighborhoods where we have identified are particularly having more difficulty,” Janakovic said.
The Johnstown City Council has not released where they would put the substation, but we’re told a local business is looking to donate space for the cause, which will also work as a community space and public works office.
