Centre County commissioners want local municipalities feedback about a proposal to increase vehicle registration rates.
Commissioner Michael Pipe pitched the idea to increase vehicle registration fees by $5, with additional funds helping local transportation projects get off the ground.
Commissioners will send a letter and survey to Centre County municipalities this week asking for feedback.
“Asking for their feedback, specifically on options for the $5 fee, including using it more for the liquid fuels grant pool, possibly leveraging with state or federal dollars, but also giving them the option to say they don’t see a need for the five dollar fee,” Pipe said.
The survey from local municipalities is due by March 1. Commissioners are also seeking citizen feedback.
