President and CEO of the Blair County Convention Center said they’ve had a good few years, hitting almost $2 million in revenue last year, but he strives for more.

Barry Kumpf said what they need is another attached hotel, like the Courtyard by Marriott, to offer space for convention center guests.

“Our goal is to import new dollars into our community and not just to spread existing dollars around,” Kumpf said. “So we strive to bring people in from a two hour or more driving radius from Altoona and that’s what we’re working on.”
