Officers from across the region and emergency officials from across the nation, will take part in Trooper Landon Weaver’s funeral and procession Thursday.
Government officials, first responders and community members all came together Wednesday, from near and far, to remember Trooper Weaver. A large group of officers from the region walked into the convention center and vehicles from other states were seen with law enforcement behind the wheel, paying their respects, including NYPD and Kentucky State Police.
Local businesses are also taking part in honoring and remembering Trooper Weaver. As the funeral procession drives down Plank Road in Blair County Thursday, some signs are lit up in his memory. One at The Meadows Ice Cream says, “God bless Trooper Landon Weaver.” Others say rest in peace. Hoss’s are showing their support outside on signs and inside of their restaurant.
At certain Hoss’s locations Jan. 7, they plan to hold a community night to help fundraise for Trooper Weaver’s family. Some locations may not be participating in the community night, but they still plan to keep a donation box in every location for those looking to support Trooper Weaver’s family.
“It’s shocking. It’s sad. It happened so quickly,” Phil Sukenik, vice president of operations at Hoss’s. “We felt it was such a tragedy and throughout our whole organization we’ve been talking all week and we really felt that we needed to do something… we felt it was very important to recognize the tragedy that happened and we wanted to also give our condolences to family, and show our support within the community, as well.”
