City adds new front onto stage

Before the rain came on Thursday evening, workers were busy at the amphitheater in the DuBois City Park.

They’re building a new facade on the front of the stage.

The concrete blocks have texture that makes them look more like stone, and small LED lighting fixtures are also designed to show off the stage more to drivers along Liberty Boulevard, according to the contractor.

“That’s lighting that sits out under the cap and its low voltage uses very minimal electricity, but has a really nice accent lighting. It’s down lighting, so it’ll light the front of the wall,” says On The Level Hardscape co-owner Brooks Carr.

City manager Herm Suplizio says the front of the wall had been crumbling, and the project should cost about $10,000. Workers say they should be finished by next week and plan to add a glaze at the end.
