ALTOONA – You can see it flying high from almost anywhere in Altoona, and this year marks 25 years the flag at Gospel Hill has been waiving. It was first flown on May 19, 1990.

The Central Pennsylvania Community Foundations is holding their annual Flag Day celebration coming up on June 14, Heritage Plaza as part of the celebrations.

But this year, to recognize he flag turning a quarter of a century, there are big plans in the works.

“It’s such a great time in our country to think about the patriotism,” said Jodi Cessna, Ex. Dir. Central PA Community Foundation. “There’s never a bad time to think about our veterans.”

And to honor the veterans, the community foundation is teaming up with the Blair County Historical Society. On June 13, they’re asking veterans to come out and help hold a 30’ by 60’ flag outside Baker Mansion.
