Earlier this week, we introduced you to a woman who’s lived nearly ten years after being diagnosed with glioblastoma, the most deadly form of brain cancer. The experimental therapy she received hasn’t yet received FDA approval, but four Pennsylvania hospitals are among 60 medical centers in the country recruiting patients for a new study of the drug.
They are the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Penn State College of Medicine Hershey Medical Center, the University of Pennsylvania, and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Some patients in the trial will receive the drug along with the standard treatment, while others will receive the standard treatment, plus a placebo.
