February marks the 40th anniversary of the 1977 movie “Slap Shot” filmed at the Cambria County War Memorial.
The Johnstown Tomahawks are planning a celebrity game, with stars from the movie on Saturday, Feb. 25 to celebrate the occasion and they’re expecting a big turnout.
“We’re hoping. Knowing the town and the popularity of Slap Shot and the Hanson brothers around the country, I wouldn’t be surprised if we had a very big crowd that night,” Tomahawks Communications Manager, Mike Gosnell said.
Specific plans are still being finalized for the anniversary event, but team officials hope to get more stars from the movie to come out.
