PennDOT today announced the contractor Joseph B. Fay, Inc. will begin implementing detours to set the beams for the Buffalo Creek bridge on the Route 219 Somerset to Meyersdale project that will build approximately 11 miles of new, four-lane limited-access highway from Somerset to Meyersdale in Summit, Black, Brothersvalley and Somerset townships, Somerset County.

Beginning on Thursday, July 7 the first of three detours will take place. These detours will be in place for approximately seven to ten days. Crossroad School Road, the first detour, will be detoured to existing Route 219, to Route 2018 (Lichty Farm Road) back to Crossroad School Road.

Once this detour is complete a detour of Route 219 will take place, using Route 2013 (Garrett Shortcut) to Route 653 and back to Route 219. The third detour will be of Fogeltown Road where traffic will be detoured to Route 2018 (Owl Hollow Road), Route 219, Route 653 and back to Fogeltown Road.

Work on this $67,436,033 project is expected to be open to traffic in late summer of 2018.
