A part of Blair County could be seeing changes in its trash and recycling pick-up system soon.

The Intermunicipal Relations Committee, otherwise known as IRC, is responsible for overseeing the pick-ups, but a director there said it’s running out of funds.

Now municipalities are working on how to bring in money.

Hollidaysburg is debating on having one-hauler responsible for the entire borough, with a flat rate for residents.

The director said it’s financially a smart thing to do, but not everyone agrees.

“They don’t care about the rates. They want their own trash hauler, they’re comfortable with them,” Joseph Dodson, vice president of the Hollidaysburg Council, said. “If they’re paying $20 versus $15 that doesn’t bother them.”
