There is a boil water notice for residents in Sykesville.

Around noon on May 16, Sykes Street had a water main break, according to borough manager Tim Shick.

Workers were able to dig up the century-old pipe and send the water to a lab for bacteria testing.

Meantime, a $3.5 million project funded by the state “Pennvest” program is underway nearby to replace the water line to DuBois, Shick said.
