Don’t drink and drive or boat this Labor Day holiday weekend.
That’s the message from State Police, PENNDot and the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission.
Officials gathered at Raystown Lake ahead of the 2nd busiest holiday on these waters to warn boaters about the Boating Under the Influence (BUI) law.
While our cameras were rolling, officers found a boater violating the “no wake zone”.
Sergeant Garman with the state’s Fish & Boat Commission says it could be much worse on the water with alcohol or drugs involved.
“It carries the same penalty and the same blood alcohol, that being .08. That’s considered a violation and one could be arrested for that.”
Officers say extra patrols are planned this holiday weekend. They remind folks that if they’re going to be celebrating with alcohol, to designate a driver, on the water or on land.
