Blair County plans to honor fallen trooper

The Blair County Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Foundation plans to honor State Trooper Landon Weaver.

The current memorial, located in front of the Blair County Courthouse in Hollidaysburg, honors fallen law enforcement officers to never forget their sacrifice to protect their community. Names are inscribed with the phrase, “Called to Duty.”

Duncansville Police Chief and President of the Blair County Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Foundation Jim Ott explained that adding Weaver to the memorial is to, “make sure that proper honor is given and make sure that each and every year that anybody that comes around this memorial to see it will see that he is being honored continuously for his efforts and the sacrifice he’s given.”

To the community, Weaver was more than just a state trooper and the foundation plans to honor him as such. The foundation’s secretary, Sue Griep, explained, “He was a son, he was a husband, he was a friend, he was a neighbor, and because of al of those things, we have lost a great member of our community.”

Plans for the funeral and how the community can help can help can be found here.
