The Bellefonte Borough is looking for residents who want to leave their mark on the major Waterfront Project downtown.
“We’re getting the word out that there is this opportunity for citizens to provide for a bench in memory of someone or a business can sponsor one as well,” Bellefonte Borough Manager Ralph Stewart said.
The benches will sit along the curved areas of the flood wall. They cost $1,600 and will look like those in Tallyrand Park. You can add a memorial or sponsorship plaque, too.
“There are many citizens that have been important to Bellefonte and this is one way a memorial might be provided in memory of someone who was instrumental in Bellefonte or grew up in Bellefonte,” Stewart said. “It is a very nice idea to have citizens join in to help us with the project.”
There is room for 10 to 12 benches. So far, Stewart said they’ve heard from about five people/businesses interested.
The walkway is expected to be complete by mid-June.
