Logan Township Police are searching for a group, who used radios to make terroristic threats against police officers and the department.

Police tried to find their location Saturday. On Wednesday, the department released the audio to seek help in identifying the suspects.

The group had unauthorized use of an emergency channel. With that access, the group acted as though they were putting on an operation against police.

“Delta 6, this is channel 21… we need scout 78 right now, we’re taking heavy fire outside of the Altoona Police barracks, over. (Unintelligible)….Let’s get some back up in there and we need to do it right now from the air.”

On the tape, the suspects acted as if they had actually killed people. One of them spoke as if they were inside the police barracks and said that they were clearing the building. Logan Township Police Chief Tim Mercer talked about the severity of this issue.

“First of all, we need to take every one of these calls as if it was true and actually occurring,” Mercer said. “So, there is an officer safety issue here that’s involved. We have officers going from one location to another trying to find out and validate if these incidents are occurring.”

On top of police safety, Chief Mercer said it took up valuable radio space.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Blair County Crime Solvers, where they could be paid in a reward up to $2,000.  The Blair County Crime Solvers tip line is 814-695-7555.
