1,600 volunteers rolled up their sleeves and dug in to help the community they call home Thursday.
It’s the 23rd Annual Day of Caring for Centre County.
More than 100 projects going on at 96 non-profit sites throughout Centre County for the army of business folks, service organizations and Penn Staters.
Volunteers helped with everything from cleaning and gardening to stocking food pantry shelves.
As Beth Shaha, Centre County United Way’s Volunteer Coordinator says, “Not only does it give a huge lift to those working here. But it also gives a huge lift to those who get to shop and have fun.”
Honorary chair Sue Paterno kicked off the all-volunteer day at the morning breakfast.
