The U.S. Armed Forces Mothers gathered at Father Kelley Hall in Altoona to pack up care packages for loved ones serving overseas.

The care packages included necessities like toiletries but also treats to remind them of home. Families wrote messages on the inside of the boxes and also included home-made cards. The mothers also include a box of baked goods that are made up of all of each mother’s specialty.

Military mothers join the group for support as they deal with having loved ones serving overseas. Suzanne Gati is in her second year with the group and explained how helpful it was for her to join. She said, “These women have all been through all of this. So when you’re having your good days or bad days, we come together as a group and we can help each other or they’re a phone call away.”

The group is always looking for donations. For more information or if you’re interested in joining the group you can call the president, Patty Davis, at 814-943-0261.
