We spoke with Blair County residents to find out what they know about this year’s vice president candidates.
Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, two people undoubtedly in the American spotlight.
But what about their running mates, Michael Pence and Tim Kaine?
WTAJ spoke with a number of local residents who knew one or the other, or neither.
One resident who knew both, couldn’t recall their first names.
The Vice President is responsible for taking over the President’s position if for whatever reason the elected cannot fulfill the term.
The VP is also lead official of the Senate.
David Wirick, an Altoona resident, said this year the candidates running for vice president don’t seem to be of high relevance.
“I think that in the past elections the vice presidential candidates are a lot more outspoken but this time both seem to be outgunned by the presidential candidates,” Wirick said.
He added that maybe the roles in this election should be reversed.
“It seems to me both Kaine and Pence seem to have fewer allegations of unethical behavior or illegal behavior than the primary presidential candidates,” Wirick said.
The voters said they hope topics including foreign affairs, and health care are discussed during Tuesday’s debate.
