There are new details about the controversy surrounding exactly what’s going on with the Blair County Sheriff Department.

We caught up with Sheriff Sam McClure’s Attorney Paul Puskar Friday.

He confirmed that McClure has been on paid administrative leave since last Thursday.

McClure will not be commenting on the ongoing investigation publicly.

His lawyer tells me that is not a criminal investigation.

Attorney Puskar says that he met with the county yesterday and hopes to find a resolution and that the matter will be solved out of court.

Puskar says that McClure plans to continue his campaign for the Blair County Sheriff position.

Earlier this week, retired County Sheriff Mitch Cooper rescinded his endorsement for McClure after learning of matter that ’caused him great concern.’

WTAJ caught up with Chief Deputy of the Blair County Sheriff Department, Holly Garner.

She says by no means has she been appointed to the sheriff position since McClure went on paid leave.

“We make sure the office is running. When the sheriff is on vacation, I step up to run the office. When the sheriff is out at a lunch, I run the office. I am by no means the sheriff, the acting sheriff of this department.”

Garner says that the Blair County Sheriff’s Department is running smoothly at this time.

Our Karina Cheung caught up with the Blair County Commissioners Tuesday and Friday.

They’ve remained tight lipped and have no comment on the situation.
