Surrounded by her security guards, Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane arrived at the Montgomery County Courthouse Monday more than an hour before jury selection in her trial was scheduled to begin.
Exactly one year to the day that the Scranton-native was arraigned on perjury charges, Kane is now fighting to clear her name.
During the jury selection process, we learned more than 50 potential people could be mentioned or called to testify at her trial.
Notable names include:
- Former Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Seamus McCaffery
- Former Kane spokesman Chuck Ardo
- Frank Fina, a former state prosecutor.
Prosecutors say Kane leaked secret grand jury information to a reporter in 2014 in an effort to embarrass Fina. They then believe she lied under oath to cover it up.
Kane has hired a small army of private attorneys to represent her. They say she has done nothing wrong. Kane is being supported in the courtroom by her family — including her parents and sister who is also currently a prosecutor in the state attorney generals office.
