About 900 students in Blair County received a new backpack filled with school supplies Thursday.
Volunteers spent the past few days stuffing backpacks for the 8th annual ‘Stuff the Bus’ program and today they handed them out.
Organizers say this year, they had the largest need in program history, and community businesses and organizations really stepped up to help.
Denise Adams, the Family Resource Center Director, told us, “[volunteers] gave time. They gave money, and they gave supplies, that’s the important part. It’s a community run event. The Family Resource Center and United Way facilitates it, but the donations come from the community. That’s what’s important.”
The Family Resource Center with the United Way of Blair County is still accepting backpack donations for the program. Click here for more information on donations.
