A fire at the scene of a train derailment continues to burn over a day after the accident in Hyndman, Bedford County on August 2 around 5 am.

A hazmat crew has been on scene investigating the situation while the National Transportation Safety Board is waiting to get the go ahead to start their investigation as safety concerns have kept them from beginning thus far. Until the propane fire burns out, it is unsafe for anyone to get near.

Evacuation of the area is still in effect and there is no word on when residents will be able to return home.

CSX responded in a news conference earlier today and said that they do not believe there is cause for concern for any residual damage once residents can return home.

Although the incident has been considered highly dangerous, the only reported structure damage is to a home and a garage.
