WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) — The Latest on a fatal West Point training vehicle accident (all times local):

West Point officials say the military training vehicle that overturned, killing one and injuring several, was being driven by a soldier on rough terrain.

Lt. Gen. Darryl A. Williams said during a news conference that 19 other cadets and two soldiers were injured when the vehicle flipped over on a dirt road early Thursday morning. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

It’s unclear whether all 20 cadets were passengers in the vehicle.

Williams said the vehicle was transporting cadets to a land navigation site for training, near Camp Natural Bridge.

He said the cadets are seniors at the U.S. Military Academy. Williams had no information on the cause of the accident or the name of the cadet who died.

West Point officials say one cadet was killed and 22 people were injured when a vehicle they were riding in for summer training overturned.

The U.S. Military Academy says the vehicle overturned on a dirt road at about 6:45 a.m. Thursday.

Twenty cadets and two soldiers on the light medium tactical vehicle were injured.

Lieutenant Col. Christopher Ophardt could not provide the severity of the injuries or the name of cadet who died.

The accident occurred near Camp Natural Bridge, an area where cadet summer training takes place.
Ophardt says the investigation of the cause of the single-vehicle accident was continuing.

Authorities say a carrier vehicle at West Point overturned in an accident involving at least 20 cadets at a training site.

New York State police said troopers were assisting West Point personnel responding to the Thursday morning crash at the U.S. Military Academy.

West Point officials confirmed there was an accident near Camp Natural Bridge, an area where cadet summer training takes place. They provided no details on the crash.
