Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland was put on lockdown Tuesday afternoon after a report of an active shooter.

Officials have confirmed it was a false threat.

The center locked down just before 3 p.m.

Maryland Democratic Representative Dutch Ruppersberger was in the building at the time and tweeted out that he and a group were sheltered in a room and were safe.

An all clear was given later Tuesday afternoon.
