Mrs. Susan Claar was the recipient of the Teacher of the Month Award for December presented by Allied Milk Producers and WTAJ. She is a 4th grade teacher at Martinsburg Elementary School in the Spring Cove School District. It was a fun morning as all the 4th grade students at Martinsburg Elementary School got to honor an outstanding teacher and learn about dairy farming. The Allied Milk Producers even brought along Allie-Moo, the life-like cow, in her winter weather gear.

Mrs. Susan Claar is the 4th grade science and math teacher, and she uses experiments and hands on learning to help her students understand these difficult subjects. Her colleagues agree she is deserving of this award. They say that what she teaches in the classroom, the students can apply in real life.

Mrs. Claar’s students love how she is understanding and is thorough in answering their questions. Their favorite science experiments have been learning how grass grows in different environments, and also learning how circuits work.

Congratulations Mrs. Claar!
