Mount Aloysius recently hosted Mounties Hooked on Hockey: Achieving your Dreams this week.
The event featured the Johnstown Tomahawks players, coaches, and staff and a teleconference with Sam Lafferty, a prospect in the Pittsburgh Penguins system.
The players talked about their professional hockey journey and the importance of establishing goals throughout life. The discussion was followed by a question and answer session and players were able to showcase their hockey tricks in the Bertschi building gym.
Sam Lafferty joined the event through a video conference. Lafferty is a Hollidaysburg native who was signed to a two-year, entry-level contract and reported to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins after being drafted in the fourth round by the Penguins. He was the team leader at Brown University, leading his senior year in 14 assists, 22 points, and his eight goals were second on the club.
Carson Briere also attended the event. Briere is a hockey player for Johnstown Tomahawks and is the son of Danny Briere, a hockey player who played in the NHL for the Philadelphia Flyers, Phoenix Coyotes, and Buffalo Sabres.
