Two nonprofit organizations are gearing up to go “Over the Edge” by rappelling 12 stories to raise funds for Centre County families in need.

Planet Fitness is hosting the rappelling event, called Over the Edge State College.

It’s happening on October 11th, at 9 a.m. at the Fraser Centre in Downtown State College.

In order to rappel or be an “edger,” you must first raise $1,000 to rappel down the 155-feet Fraser Centre.

More than 60 people are raising money to rappel down the State College building. However, there is room for up to 92 edgers.

Local celebrity George Etzweiler, the 98-year-old mountain runner who was featured in Adventure Journal; as well as State College Mayor Don Hahn, Bellefonte Mayor Tom Wilson, and Centre County Commissioner Mark Higgins are all set to rappel Thursday morning.

Proceeds from Over the Edge will support FaithCentre and Interfaith Human Services in their efforts to move low-income Centre County residents toward a point of stability.
