Do you know a child interested in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math? Sign them up for Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8’s STEM Summer Camp!

Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 STEM Summer Camps are for kids in grades 3 through 8, and provide a hands-on education in robotics, coding and design.  Students in grades 3 through 5 can enroll in the “Dash and Dot” program which combines robotics and coding. All participants can take part in “Exploring Circuits with Makey-Make and littleBits in Johnstown, or “Life Hacks with littleBits in Altoona where they can learn about conductors, insulators and circuits.

Students in grades 6 through 8 can enroll in “Fabulous Food Science” to merge science and food through a series of edible kitchen activities. They can also participate in “Lego Mindstorms”, for the chance to build, program, and test a robot using an EV3 Robot Kit. Students can only enroll in one camp per period.

Session one will beat the Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center from Tuesday, June 27 through Thursday, June 29, while session two is Tuesday, July 25 through Thursday, July 27 at Appalachia Intermediate unite 8. The second session of Lego Mindstorms will take place in July, but at the Education Development Center, 580 Foot of Ten Road in Duncansville.
