State College is raising awareness of mental health issues during First Friday!

May is Mental Health Month, and the The Jana Marie Foundation is teaming up with Skills of Central PA and Beck Psychotherapy to host the Mokita Trunk Show. Mokita comes from the Kilivila language which spoken around Papua New Guinea which means “a truth we don’t discuss”. This show works to highlight positive ways to cope with the “elephants’ in our community through art, music, creative expression and more! Artists have painted elephant cutouts that will be placed in windows throughout the Downtown State College area during First Friday.

The Art Alliance Gallery Downtown will host an opening reception from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm for their latest exhibit, For the Moment. Six contemporary artists will explore the life of flowers in art in various media styles.
