Inspired by the places he calls home, artist Ron Donoughe offers a fresh look at many local subjects that we might otherwise take for granted!
Labor & Landscape: 100 Paintings of the Allegheny Mountain Region by Ron Donoughe will run from Friday, April 21 through Friday, June 10 at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Loretto. A reception celebrating the exhibit will be held on Friday, May 19 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the museum. Cost is $25 per person. RSVP by May 12.
A native son of Loretto, Ron visited many businesses, farms and even the county fair near his hometown for this project. He was given personal tours of steels mills, a pretzel factory and a taxidermy school, and had the chance to interact with many people along the way. Most of Ron’s work was painted on location in front of the subject. He also worked in his studio from his own photographs when conditions prohibited him from painting on location.
