The Fresh Air Fund is looking for area families to host kids from low-income communities this summer!

The Fresh Air Fund is an independent, not-for-profit agency that has provided free summer experiences to more than 1.8 million children from New York City’s low-income communities. Nearly 4,000 kids visit volunteer families in rural and suburban communities along the East Coast and Southern Canada. The kids participating are between ages 7 and 18. Children who are 7 to 12 stay for one to two weeks, and many Fresh Air Kids are invited to stay with their host families year after year. Participants are chosen on financial need and are registered by social service and community organizations in the five boroughs of New York City.

The screening process for host families include pre-screening over the phone, an in person interview at the home of the family, background check for host family members, and communication with three references provided by the family.

If you’re interested hosting a child this summer, contact Lauri Chose at (814) 270-7184 or visit Fresh Air Fund online for more information.
