August is National Rum Month. Pete Banasick from Fine Wine and Good Spirits shares some rum inspired cocktail recipes!
Cocktail Recipes:
Brugal Ginger Mojito
2 oz Brugal Añejo Superior Rum
8-10 fresh mint leaves
½ lime, quartered
1 tsp superfine sugar
Ginger ale
3 Mint sprigs
Muddle mint leaves, lime and sugar in a tall glass. Add rum and fill glass with ice. Top with ginger ale and stir gently. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig.
Cocount Breeze
2 oz Cruzan Coconut Rum
½ oz triple sec
Lime flavored sparkling water
1 lime wedge
Combine rum and triple sec in a rocks glass filled with ice. Top with sparkling water; stir gently. Garnish with lime wedge.
Bahama Mama Sunrise
Ingredients:
1 oz. Dark Rum
1 oz. Light Rum
1 oz. Coconut Rum
2 oz. Orange Juice (or to taste)
2 oz. Pineapple Juice (or to taste)
Splash Grenadine
Mix all ingredients (except Grenadine) in a cocktail shaker or mixing glass with ice.
Strain into a glass filled with ice and serve.
Garnish with fruit, as desired.
Mango Hurricane
1 oz Cruzan Mango Rum
1 oz Cruzan Dark Rum
3 oz orange juice
1 splash of grenadine
1 each, orange wedge and maraschino cherry
Combine first four ingredients with ice in a hurricane glass. Add a splash of
grenadine. Garnish with orange wedge and a cherry.
Cachaça
½ lime, 2 ½ oz Cachaça, 2 teaspoon sugar (I prefer simple syrup)
Muddle the sugar (or syrup) and lime in a glass, add ice and Cachaça.
More sugar can be added to taste.
