The Easter bunny is getting some help this holiday, from Hockman’s Candy in Dubois. The long standing local business has been located on the corner of West Long Ave and S. Brady Street in Dubois for almost 12 years. The shop was first started in Big Run, and then made the move to downtown DuBois.
For the local community, it’s a tradition shopping at Hockman’s for every holiday. Alyson Yoha says her favorite candy is the Chocolate fantasies. “They don’t have them that often, so when I see them I get them,” says Yoha. The DuBois Kindergarten teacher says it’s important to shop local and support her neighbors. With a bag full of Candy, Yoha says some of the treats won’t make it to the Easter baskets but rather be eaten on Friday.
Customers frequented the stores, getting ready to celebrate the holiday. The owners say, once the weekend is over much of the candy is donated to organizations and nursing homes. The Hockman’s say it’s important to give back to the community that gives them so much support.
