One of the region’s newest and largest hotels celebrated its grand opening on Wednesday. Plamondon Hospitality Partners, owners of the Fairfield Inn and Suites, and Towneplace Suites by Marriott Altoona held a ribbon-cutting in front of the hotel.
The new facility is actually a dual hotel with 104 regular guest rooms and 93 long term stay suites with full kitchens. Guests also have access to a fitness center and an indoor pool.
Hotel owners say UPMC Altoona, Penn State Altoona, and the Blair County Convention Center are helping to drive the need for more lodging. They also expect the facility to draw guests who come to Altoona to visit relatives at the VA Medical Center, next door.
