Chris Paveglio, has been revving his engines for 17 years. He finds the need for speed at the Central Pennsylvania Region Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).

“This is an Autocross.  And what it is. is an obstacle course set up with cones on the air strip here and it’s a competition for drivers to drive their cars as quickly as possible through the obstacle course,” says Paveglio, who is the SOLO Chair of the SCCA Centre Region.

At the track, safety is a main priority and the track gives car lovers a place to race without any risk.

Paveglio explains that, “It’s one car at a time, there’s no possibility of hitting anybody else.  People have to wear helmets, we have to have a basic safety inspection so there’s no leaking or anything like  that.”

“You’re trying to get around as quick as you possibly can in your street car,” says Clifford Moten, the Assistant Regional Executive of SCCA.

The track allows for cars to race at about 60 miles per hour.

SCCA is a member-based group, but it is open to the public. Anyone can try their driving skills on the track.

“If you’ve got young kids that you are trying to get into something that’s good and fun and keep them out of trouble, this is a great thing to do, plus it will teach them how to drive really well,” says Moten.
