A symposium was held in Cambria County to discuss issues veterans face when they return home from deployment and what resources are available to help them.

The 12th Annual Returning Veteran Issues Symposium took place at the Hiram G. Andrews Center in Johnstown on Wednesday, August 23rd.

Guest speakers addressed topics like PTSD, stress management, substance abuse and employment for veterans. They also discussed issues children face while their parents are deployed.

Event organizers said it’s just as important to support soldiers’ families and children.

“Put out the garbage, make a meal for them. Something as simple as that, it really helps,” said Tom Caulfield, Director of Veteran Community Initiatives.
