A new partnership is transforming tailgating at Penn State into a good cause and they’re doing it with ice cold milkshakes.

Beginning this Saturday the Pennsylvania Dirymen’s Association will be whipping up milkshakes at PSU home games.

With each purchase fans will be doing more than tackling their sweet tooth.

Each shake is $6 and a dollar from every sale will go towards Feeding Pennsylvania, a charitable fresh milk program that connects with food banks across the state.

Jane Clements-Smith, Exec. Dir., of Feeding Pennsylvania, said “We’re going to increases awareness about food insecurity and about the fact that there are children that go without fresh milk.”

Dave Smith, Exec. of PA Dairymen’s Association, said folks may not realize how much of a need their is in the commonwealth.

According to Feeding Pennsylvania, 1.6 million Pennsylvanians are food insecure and half a million of those are children.

“That would be like filling Beaver Stadium 5 times with the amount of children who don’t have access to enough food,” Clements-Smith said.

So the two organizations created the Fill a Glass with Hope campaign, and now Penn State fans can help the cause.

“We thought what better place would there be than to Happy Valley and the network and the family that comes to Beaver Stadium on a Saturday football game,” Smith said.

“So tailgating is fun, milkshakes are delicious, but I find it’s even better when it’s servicing a good cause,” Clements-Smith said.

You can find the milkshake booth on Curtin Road during home games while the weather is still warm.

Smith said each shake helps bring farmers, football and Feeding Pennsylvania together.

“So while you’re enjoying that milkshake I just want to say thank you because you’re also supporting fresh milk for families who need it most,” Clements-Smith said.
