The human remains found in Pike Township have been identified as 19-year-old Chase Anderson.A search has been underway for the Curwensville teen since he was last seen on just about a month ago on August 11th.
Police say the remains were found last Thursday morning in a wooded area just off of Walker Road in Pike township. Since then a forensic unit was brought in to help in the identification process.
Social media rumors have been swirling for about a week, suspecting the remains were Andersons. However, it is not until Thursday, the Clearfield County Coroner has connected those two investigations.
WTAJ is told police are pursuing this investigation aggressively, as a cause and manner still needs to be determined. Forensic scientists are also still looking at the nature of this crime to help figure out exactly how Anderson died.
At this time, police say they believe the crime is an isolated incident and several suspects are in custody.
