Downtown Johnstown is getting a little greener thanks to some volunteers.
Vision 2025 teamed up with the Lowe’s Heroes Project to add benches and plant flowers near the train station and Peoples Natural Gas Park.
Lowe’s donated $2,500 worth of supplies. Volunteers also installed trash bins and two solar-powered street lamps.
“Anything that we can do to save the city money and increase sustainability and give people happiness, that’s what we’re looking to do,” said Linda Messer, the Vision 2025 Greenspace Capture Team Leader.
The Vision 2025 Greenspace Team wants to update Central Park next. They’re looking for corporate sponsors to help fund projects in the future.
