Two Altoona residents have been arrested following an armed robbery in Bellwood, Blair County.

Altoona Police say Michael Rupert and Carli Aungst were taken into custody after police say they robbed the Puff Super Value Store on Main Street, Wednesday evening.

Officers were able to track them down at the McDonald’s on 9th Avenue in Altoona in the Station Medical Center. Inside the SUV, police say they found a young child. There’s no word if the child was in the vehicle during the robbery. Police say they also found cash, a bb gun and clothing they believe was used in the Bellwood and possibly other armed robberies. Their red Ford Escape was identified by a witness at the Bellwood Puff Super Value.

In the past few weeks, police have investigated six other armed robberies in Blair and Cambria counties. The suspect was always described as a white man, approximately 6-feet tall, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, jeans and sneakers.

Police haven’t confirmed if any of these robberies are connected but believe there is evidence that leads them to that possibility.
