The open enrollment period for health insurance is only 45 days this year. It will be from November 1 through December 15

Acting insurance commissioner Jessica Altman announced an advertising campaign to help consumers better understand the health insurance market.

Altman says the campaign will be helpful after the Trump administration cut funding to outreach and advertising budgets for the open enrollment period, which is now six weeks shorter than in previous years.

“We will specifically be emphasizing that shorter open enrollment period, and have a spot specifically targeted towards the end of the time period in making sure consumers understand that deadline and enroll in time to meet it,” said Altman.

The on-air and online ads will direct consumers to heathcare.gov and the consumers check book, which is a plan comparison tool.
